CUAET Program Expansion for Ukrainian Nationals

According to TSN.ua: Canada is broadening its support for Ukrainian citizens who arrived under the emergency CUAET initiative, granting extra time to regularize their legal status. The deadline to apply for work permit extensions has been pushed back to March 31, 2027. This decision marks a significant step in assisting Ukrainians forced to flee their homeland due to ongoing military conflict.

Launched in March 2022, the CUAET program allows Ukrainians to stay in Canada for up to three years with priority processing. Applications for the program were accepted until March 31, 2024, giving Ukrainian refugees additional time to settle and secure their legal standing in their new country. In 2023, a pathway to permanent residency became available for Ukrainians with family members already in Canada.

As long as Russia's war against Ukraine continues, Canada remains committed to supporting displaced Ukrainians through the CUAET program.

The CUAET program not only provides assistance to Ukrainians during their stay in Canada but also offers the option to return home once the situation in Ukraine stabilizes. This extension opens up new prospects for those seeking a safe place to live, as well as for individuals who hope to eventually go back to their home country.

By extending the CUAET program and the legal status deadlines for Ukrainian refugees, Canada demonstrates its proactive stance in supporting Ukrainian citizens amid the ongoing conflict. This move also reflects Canada's willingness to adjust its immigration policies to meet the needs of those affected by war, offering them opportunities for integration and stability. Canada continues to be a key ally for Ukrainians during these challenging times, providing resources and support for adapting to life in a new country.
