F-16 of the elite Thunderbirds squadron crashed in California: pilot survived.
According to ТСН: The fighter jet of the elite demonstration squadron Thunderbirds of the U.S. Air Force crashed in the Southern California desert. The F-16 pilot successfully ejected.
According to Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, the F-16C Fighting Falcon crashed around 10:45 AM during a training mission in controlled airspace over California.
The incident occurred near the town of Trona in the Mojave Desert, approximately 290 kilometers north of Los Angeles.
San Bernardino County fire officials reported that the pilot was transported to the hospital for medical evaluation, but his life is currently not in danger.
"The pilot's condition is stable, and he is being monitored," stated Nellis Air Force Base.
An investigation has been launched following the incident.
Footage shared on social media shows the pilot, who ejected from the fighter jet, descending by parachute near the crash site, where thick black smoke is rising.
As a reminder, a U.S. Air Force F-16 recently intercepted a civilian aircraft that violated the temporarily restricted airspace over Palm Beach, Florida, where President Donald Trump's residence is located.
This incident underscores the importance of training missions for military pilots and their readiness for unforeseen situations. The Thunderbirds fighters are known for their demonstration performances, and any accident involving them attracts significant attention not only from the media but also from the public. The investigation's results may shed light on the causes of the crash and potential safety measures for the future.
