Kyiv blogger fined 34 thousand for videos in police uniform.
According to ТСН: Kyiv law enforcement officers uncovered a 36-year-old resident of the capital who was creating entertaining videos in police uniform using obscene language. Now the man, who dreamed of popularity on the Internet, will have to pay a hefty fine.
During a social media inspection, the capital’s police stumbled upon a video in which a man in police uniform parodies the actions of law enforcement officers, demonstrating brazen behavior and using profanity. This clip quickly gained popularity on one of the platforms and caused public resonance.
During the investigation, it turned out that the profile where this video was posted belongs to a man who uses it to advertise electronic repair services.
Law enforcement officers, together with forensic experts, quickly identified the creator of the video, who turned out to be a 36-year-old resident of Kyiv, not associated with the National Police of Ukraine.
He admitted that he was filming such content for the sake of popularity on the Internet and did not consider the possible legal consequences of his actions.
The police held the man administratively liable for the illegal use of insignia belonging to the National Police. For this violation, he faces a fine of up to 34 thousand UAH.
“Kyiv police emphasize: the use of police uniforms, symbols, or imitation of official activities by persons who are not police officers is unlawful. Such actions are subject to liability under current legislation of Ukraine,” the law enforcement officers stressed.
Earlier, the Kyiv police also uncovered a group of bloggers who staged fake videos mimicking document checks and arrests in police uniforms. Law enforcement identified about 10 such clips that discredited the work of the authorities and promptly established the identities of the 'actors' who had no relation to the service.
This situation serves as another signal for social media that content violating ethical standards and legality can lead to serious consequences. Law enforcement continues to stress the importance of adhering to legislation in the internet space to avoid similar cases in the future.
