Kyiv Metro to Change Schedule for New Year: Details for Passengers.
According to ТСН: The Kyiv Metro will temporarily change the schedule of trains on all three lines from January 1 to 2, 2026, due to an expected decrease in the number of passengers.
This was reported on the Kyiv Metro Alerts Telegram channel. The changes to the schedule are related to the projected reduction in passenger flow at the beginning of the new year.
Train Schedule
-
On January 1, during the morning peak, trains will run at intervals of 3-4 minutes. After the peak time, the waiting time for trains during the day will be approximately 5-6 minutes.
-
On January 2, train traffic during morning and evening peak hours will occur at intervals of 3-4 minutes.
-
On January 3 and 4, the standard weekend schedule will apply, with intervals between trains of 6-7 minutes.
We remind you that the Kyiv Metro operates from 06:00 to 23:00, providing movement on three lines with standard intervals: 3-4 minutes during peak hours, about 5 minutes during off-peak times, and 6-7 minutes on weekends. The fare is 8 UAH. All metro stations are available round the clock as shelters during air raids and curfews (with a passport), with the possibility of obtaining drinking water, toilets, and 4G internet. The above-ground station "Hydropark" closes during alerts, and traffic on the red line is limited to the section "Akademmistetisko" — "Arsenalna" during these times.
These schedule changes are explained by the season when the number of passengers typically decreases. The Kyiv Metro stresses the importance of a flexible approach to the schedule to ensure the comfort of public transport under any conditions. In the coming days, passengers are urged to pay attention to updates in the schedule and consider possible changes in travel plans.
