Oschadbank Customers Face Video ID Deadline: Who Is at Risk of Account Freezes?.
Oschadbank’s Video Identification Requirement
According to Novyny.live: Customers of Oschadbank must complete a video identification process by July 1, 2026, to avoid having their payments suspended. Retirees are particularly affected by this requirement, especially those living in non-government-controlled areas. Some have already had their pension payments blocked due to card freezes, creating a major obstacle to accessing essential funds.
In April, Oschadbank clients are required to update their personal data. Meanwhile, the bank has extended the validity of its payment cards until the end of June 2026. This extension is applied automatically for cards that expired starting in February 2022. Despite these measures, many pensioners are still encountering difficulties with the video identification process.
“My elderly parents are in the occupied territories. They need to complete verification because their cards have expired. We’ve tried to sign up three times, but they can’t get through because:
- There are too many confusing buttons. By the time a 75-year-old reads and clicks them, the time runs out.
- Same issue again.
- We called a young neighbor to help with the technical setup—the video started, grandma could see herself, the stream was working—but on the other end, there was silence. And again, ‘time expired.’

Ensuring Accessible Banking Services
As a result, even with the card extensions, video identification remains a critical step for Oschadbank customers—especially retirees who may face hurdles during the verification process. The bank advises all clients to seek assistance if they encounter difficulties completing the video identification procedure.
This situation highlights the need for banking services to be accessible to vulnerable groups, particularly pensioners who often struggle with technological barriers. Issues with video identification can lead to serious financial hardship for those who depend on pension payments, especially in areas with limited access to services in non-government-controlled territories. Given these challenges, Oschadbank should consider the needs of its customers and develop supportive mechanisms to simplify the verification process.
