G7 countries developing tough measures against China over support for Russian aggression.
G7 countries are developing enhanced sanctions against China due to its support for the Russian war machine. This was reported by Bloomberg.
At the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Italy (November 25-26), tough decisions are expected to be made regarding countries that assist Russia's military efforts. Special emphasis will be placed on actions prior to Donald Trump's presidency, who previously expressed skepticism about supporting Ukraine.
According to experts, the wording regarding China is expected to reflect an 'escalation' compared to previous agreements. NATO has already described China as a 'decisive enabler' of Russian aggression.
Additionally, G7 countries plan to continue pressure on Russian export revenues, particularly through restrictions on the 'shadow fleet' of tankers. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock warned that China's assistance to Russia 'will and must have consequences.'
The draft communiqué is also expected to condemn the deployment of North Korean soldiers in Ukraine and call for de-escalation in the Middle East.
