Veterans Affairs Minister Tours DTEK Energy Mine

According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Minister for Veterans Affairs, Natalia Kalmykova, visited a DTEK Energy mine in the Dnipropetrovsk region to examine inclusive workplace solutions designed for veterans. The site hosts a pilot project creating an inclusive environment aimed at supporting veterans and facilitating their return to professional careers. This visit highlights a growing national focus on veteran reintegration following Russia's full-scale invasion.

Since the start of the full-scale war, over 5,500 DTEK employees have joined Ukraine's defense forces. Of these, nearly a thousand have completed their service and have now returned to work. DTEK, owned by Rinat Akhmetov, has been recognized for having the country's top veteran support program, demonstrating a systematic approach to the reintegration of former military personnel.

"It is crucial for us to see practical solutions in action that help male and female veterans resume their professional lives," Natalia Kalmykova noted during her visit.

Oleksandr Fomenko, a company representative, added: "We are working systematically to ensure every veteran has a safe workplace and a clear plan for returning to their profession." These initiatives underscore the importance of establishing supportive conditions for veterans seeking to apply their skills in civilian life.

Veteran Support Efforts in Ukraine

The Minister's inspection signals a concerted effort by both the state and private sector to assist veterans transitioning back to civilian life after their service. Inclusion and reintegration programs are vital for helping former service members adapt, which specifically involves:

  • creating safe workplaces;
  • providing proper guidance during the return to their profession.

This initiative could serve as a model for other companies across the country that may also contribute to supporting veterans.
