The court in Khmelnytskyi region sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the rape of his 11-year-old stepdaughter.
According to ТСН: A 48-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment in Khmelnytskyi for raping his underage stepdaughter.
According to the Khmelnytskyi police, the events took place in 2022 when the girl was only 11 years old. During the absence of his wife, who was at work, the perpetrator took advantage of the child's defenseless state as she usually slept, and repeatedly committed violent acts over the course of a year.
When the child told her mother about what had happened, the woman reported it to the law enforcement authorities, and the man was arrested. It is worth noting that he already had a criminal record. During a search, illegal ammunition and gunpowder were found in his possession.
The investigation was completed in April 2023, and the case was sent to court. The perpetrator tried to delay the proceedings, not admitting his guilt and attempting to evade punishment.
Recently, the court put an end to this case, finding the man guilty of several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Arrest in Kyiv
In the capital, a 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of raping a 16-year-old girl. During their time together in the apartment, the man intoxicated the teenager with alcoholic beverages, and later, after the girl’s acquaintance left, committed rape.
These cases highlight serious issues of violence in Ukraine, particularly regarding children and teenagers. The ongoing work of law enforcement and the judicial system is a vital component in combating such crimes. The public must also be active in protecting children and supporting victims of violence.
