Border guard fined for Ukrainian's escape to Poland: man went to the toilet.
According to ТСН: An incident occurred in the Lviv region when a man illegally escaped to Poland, taking advantage of the moment when the border guard left his post to visit the toilet.
This case has been recorded in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions. The border guard is accused of improper performance of official duties. The incident took place at the Shehyni checkpoint.
Incident details
During his duty, the border guard left his workplace due to a physiological need. At that time, a Ukrainian citizen illegally crossed the border and fled to Poland.
“During his service, he had a physiological need to leave for a moment to visit the toilet, which is why he left his place of duty for a short time,” the case materials state.
Court decision
The border guard appealed to the court requesting to consider his difficult situation, as he is raising three children and has health problems. The court decided not to punish him severely, imposing a fine of 17,000 hryvnias and obliging him to pay a court fee of 605.60 hryvnias.
Earlier in the Lviv region, there was a case where a man was fined 68 thousand hryvnias for attempting to receive a bribe from an acquaintance border guard for leaving the country.
This incident highlights the importance of adhering to the rules at the state border and the responsibility of border guards for their actions. Despite personal circumstances, official duties must be performed properly, as this relates to the country's security.
