The Battlefield Reality Near Pokrovsk

According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian forces on the Pokrovsk front are facing a staggering numerical disadvantage, with enemy troops outnumbering them ten to one. Despite these daunting odds, artillery crews from the 147th Air Assault Brigade are making effective use of French-made Caesar self-propelled howitzers to obliterate enemy hideouts. This tactical approach allows them to inflict heavy losses on the adversary, even while being vastly outnumbered.

Artillery in Action

Over the course of a single month, gunners from the 147th Brigade can destroy up to 15 shelters, each typically housing at least five occupying soldiers. Each round fired from a Caesar howitzer weighs 50 kilograms, giving it devastating destructive power.

Oleksandr, a gun commander, explains: 'Sometimes we fire 7 shells at a target, sometimes 3, and other times as many as 15.'

This flexibility highlights how the artillery unit adapts its tactics to the demands of the battlefield.

The effectiveness of these strikes is confirmed by Bars, a division commander in the 147th Brigade, who recounts: 'We hit a building where there was a large concentration of enemy forces.' Still, conditions remain extremely challenging. Mykola, a soldier from the same brigade, notes: 'There are so many drones circling above us that we have to shoot them down right from our positions.'

As fighting continues on the Pokrovsk axis, the role of precision artillery becomes even more critical. Ukrainian troops are demonstrating resilience and professionalism by leveraging advanced weaponry to strike back at the enemy. At the same time, the heavy use of drones by opposing forces underscores the urgent need for new counter-drone strategies, which have become a defining feature of modern warfare.
