Kyiv Region Targeted in Major Nighttime Strike

According to TSN.ua: In the early hours of February 3, 2026, Russia launched a large-scale attack against the Kyiv region. This assault inflicted damage on civilian communities, energy infrastructure, and residential buildings, as detailed by Mykola Kalashnik, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration. These attacks are part of a wider pattern of strikes on Ukrainian cities that have intensified during the winter months.

Scope of the Damage

The consequences of the strikes were widespread. In the Obolonskyi district, a man was injured by shattered glass. In Kyiv, three people were wounded. The attack also hit several other districts:

  • Dniprovskyi district
  • Darnytskyi district
  • Shevchenkivskyi district
  • Desnianskyi district
  • Pecherskyi district

Resulting damage included buildings, gas stations, and power lines, with fires breaking out in some areas. The loss of heating in several districts, due to the strikes, creates a severe additional hardship for residents amid freezing winter temperatures.

This attack is a continuation of an aggressive policy that has lasted for several years and points to serious threats to the civilian population. - Mykola Kalashnik

The winter conditions, with temperatures dropping significantly, mean the loss of heating could lead to a rapid deterioration in living conditions for many. Such incidents underscore the critical need for bolstering Ukraine's defensive capabilities and protecting its vital infrastructure from these relentless assaults.
