The Chinese Communist Party must 'turn the knife inward,' said Xi Jinping

Chinese leader Xi Jinping called on the Communist Party to take decisive action to combat corruption and disciplinary issues among its members. He demanded that the party take measures against all interest groups and privileged classes that harm and corrupt party members.

Xi Jinping believes that conflicts and issues of internal party politics are a necessary part of its development. Therefore, it is essential to courageously and timely use various measures to overcome negative influences and ensure the party's viability.

'With the change of situation and tasks facing the party, various conflicts and issues will inevitably arise within the party. We must have the courage to turn the knife inward and timely eliminate their negative impact, so that the party is always filled with vitality and zest for life,' said Xi in a speech in the leading party journal Qiushi Journal.

The Chinese leader has been actively fighting against corruption in the party since coming to power in 2013. However, even after serious repression, corruption still remains a serious problem, especially in the military sector. Over the past two years, two defense ministers have been expelled from the party for 'serious disciplinary violations,' which actually means corruption.

Published excerpts in Qiushi Journal indicate that the Chinese authorities have decided to step up their fight against corruption. In November, an admiral serving in China's highest military command body was investigated for 'serious disciplinary violations.' At the same Time, in 2023, about 610,000 party officials were punished for disciplinary violations.
