The heating season in Odessa is under threat due to the absence of generators in large district boiler houses. Anna Pozdnyakova, deputy mayor of Odessa, reported this. According to her, small boiler houses have generators that ensure continued operation in the event of a power grid outage. However, large boiler houses have a problem.

In 2023, Odessa entered into an agreement with the UN UNDP and Japan, under which financing for the production of gas-powered cogeneration machines was to be provided. These machines are power plants that produce electricity and thermal energy from natural gas. However, the process of installing these machines is being delayed.

Anna Pozdnyakova stated that the project coordination and tendering process lasted almost a year. Also, the manufacturing Time for the machines is 8-10 months. The factories that produce the machines conduct their commissioning, which provides warranty service. However, responses from the manufacturers are being delayed, but this does not depend on local authorities.

Meanwhile, Odessa mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov has not yet signed the order for preparing for the heating season, but he went to France for a medical conference.

The head of the Odessa Regional Administration, Oleg Kiper, noted that the situation in the region is somewhat better, but the preparation for the heating season has to be done manually. All necessary parts and fuel are checked daily to ensure uninterrupted operation.
