How Sexual Activity Affects the Immune System

According to TSN.ua: A study conducted by the Department of Medical Psychology at the University Hospital Essen in Germany has found that sexual activity and orgasm may have a beneficial impact on the immune system. Specifically, researchers observed increased levels of dopamine and oxytocin during orgasm, along with a rise in white blood cell count—an indicator of a stronger immune response.

As part of the study, scientists measured the levels of these biologically active substances just minutes before an orgasm and again 45 minutes afterward. The results showed not only an increase in white blood cells, which help fight viruses and bacteria, but also a decrease in cortisol, the stress hormone. This suggests that sexual activity may help reduce stress on the body, which in turn positively affects overall health.

A Holistic Approach to Health

These findings indicate that sexual activity could play a key role in strengthening the immune system. However, it is important to note that sex is not the only factor influencing immunity; other elements also contribute significantly to maintaining good health.

This study highlights the importance of a comprehensive approach to health that includes both physical activity and emotional well-being. The connection between sexual activity and immune function could open up new avenues for treating and preventing various diseases. Still, further research is needed to fully understand this phenomenon, taking into account the diverse aspects of human life and health.
