Flooding in Zakarpattia Endangers Gas Supply for 17 Villages
According to TSN.ua: A major gas pipeline in the Zakarpattia region is at risk after floodwaters from the Tysa River eroded its support structure. The incident occurred near the village of Hetynia in the Berehiv district, where a rapid snowmelt caused the river to rise. This has left the pipeline structure severely tilted, threatening to cut off gas supplies to approximately 5,800 customers.

- Chornotysovo

- Zatysivka

- Bratovo
- Okli
- Okli Hed
- Klymove
Emergency services are working to stabilize the situation, including building an embankment across the Tysa River. Engineers are also developing several technical solutions, such as creating a temporary bypass line. This region of western Ukraine is prone to seasonal flooding, which can severely impact critical infrastructure.
Officials have confirmed that standard power outage schedules will not be in effect during the repair work. Residents are advised to prepare alternative heating methods, such as stoves, in case of gas supply interruptions. The situation is being monitored, and specialists are working to resolve the problem.
This incident highlights the vulnerability of infrastructure to extreme weather events like flooding.
