The police of Kyiv are investigating a brutal arrest: What happened in Desnjansky Park.
According to ТСН: The leadership of the Kyiv police has initiated an internal investigation into the actions of police officers in the Desnjansky district who arrested a man on the evening of December 2. This occurred after the citizen refused to comply with the police officers' request to stop, began to flee, and resisted.
According to the police, the incident occurred during a patrol of the area in search of a person connected with crimes.
“The affected person did not respond to the lawful request of the police to stop – instead, he began to flee. When the police officers caught up with him, this citizen began to fight, which is why he was arrested under Art. 185 of the Code of Administrative Offenses,” the statement said. The police also noted that a rescue vehicle was called at the request of the arrested person. Shortly thereafter, officials from the city police’s main inspection arrived at the scene to conduct a service investigation to objectively assess the actions of the police during the arrest.
User Julia reported on social media about the incident, stating that the police had brutally beaten her father to “half dead.”
“Dad is a family man, with no criminal record, with no problems with the law. He was walking through the park, suddenly – three in civilian clothes. Without uniforms. Without vests marked 'POLICE'. Without identification checks. Instead of 'Police, stop!' – screams with insults. Dad didn’t know who they were. In an empty park area, in the dark, three people were running at him shouting. What would anyone do? He ran,” she emphasized.Julia added that during the pursuit, one of the police officers “fell and went crazy, started making threats.”
“Then Dad heard 4 shots… There were no words like 'Police,' 'Stop!' or any other words that could have made it clear to him that they were law enforcement officers. He was caught, thrown to the ground, and brutally beaten. On the head. In the face. On the ears. He sank to his knees, begged them to stop – they continued to beat him. He called for an ambulance – they ignored him,” Julia reported. The girl noted that her father had called for an ambulance himself.
“According to Dad's words: 'I begged him: 'Stop, stop hitting.' And he said: 'S... - hands forward.' I asked: 'Can I get up?' – 'No, you cannot, stay on your knees.' I knelt and felt that I was getting very sick. After about five minutes, I got so sick that I started to fall,” she added.Julia believes that the police had “fabricated the case and called her father detained for 'gross disobedience to police officers,' no one beat him, no one shot – he fell himself and got injured.” She called for punishment of those responsible in this situation. Currently, there is no new information from the police.
For the record: In Poltava, an incident occurred during the performance of official duties involving women who attempted to block soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, resulting in a soldier suffering serious injuries.
Additionally, the DBR in Lviv charged a military personnel who used physical force against a 56-year-old man while trying to check his documents, leading to moderate injuries, including a shoulder fracture.
The situation surrounding the arrest of a man in Kyiv again underscores the need for an objective investigation into the actions of law enforcement agencies. Such incidents create societal resonance and raise questions about the police's activities in maintaining public order. Undoubtedly, attention to such cases is necessary to uphold human rights and strengthen trust in law enforcement agencies.
