Rescued from the Trash: How Volunteers Freed Nine Storks in the Kyiv Region.
According to ТСН: In the Kyiv region, in Myronivka, volunteers rescued storks that got stuck at the city landfill.
This is reported by the NGO “Sadyba Nyushanyk. Helping Birds”.
Together with the animal rescue team Kyiv Animal Rescue Group, volunteers removed the storks that had fallen into the trap at the landfill.
A local resident spotted the storks. The birds were wandering among the garbage, heavily contaminated with an unknown liquid, and could not take off. The polluted feathers prevented them from escaping, effectively condemning them to remain at the dump.
How the Rescue Operation Went
During the first outing, rescuers managed to catch seven birds. After a repeated appeal, another outing was made, during which two more storks were found.
All nine birds were transferred to “Sadyba Nyushanyk”, where they were thoroughly cleaned in several stages, as the contamination had penetrated deeply into their feathers.
The Condition of the Storks Now
At the center, the birds are being treated and their feather coat is being restored. Rescuers hope that after rehabilitation, the storks will be able to return to nature and again soar high in the sky.
Organizations thanked all those who were not indifferent and reported the injured birds.
It should be noted that preparation of a raccoon dog for winter was filmed in the Chernobyl reserve. The animal was enjoying moose remains. It turns out that it is actively accumulating energy before the cold. As the reserve specialists specify, such behavior is a natural adaptation to the frost.
This situation highlights the importance of volunteer initiatives, as even one virtuous act can save the lives of defenseless animals. The stated goal is not only rescue but also the return of birds to their natural habitat, ultimately highlighting the strengthening of the bond between people and nature, which is especially relevant in modern times.
