Russian Shahed Drones Strike Ukraine from North and East, Debris Hits Kindergarten.
Hostile Drone Attack Targets Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: In the early hours of January 28, Ukraine came under attack by hostile Shahed-type drones launched from eastern and northern directions. According to the Air Force, the drones were deployed from the Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
Debris from a downed Russian drone struck the grounds of a kindergarten in the Kyiv region. Separately, in the city of Dnipro, emergency services evacuated 16 people from a 16-story residential building that caught fire. These attacks are part of Russia's ongoing campaign of long-range strikes against Ukrainian cities, which has intensified during the winter months. The primary launch vectors for the assault included:
- Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from the Kharkiv region
- Drones originating in the Sumy region, which proceeded towards the Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions
This incident underscores the aggressor's continued reliance on drone warfare, highlighting the persistent dangers to civilians. Strikes on residential areas, including a kindergarten, demonstrate the severe threat posed by such weaponry in this conflict and emphasize the critical need for robust civil defense and emergency response systems.
