Cluster Munition Strike on Druzhkivka Kills at Least Seven.
February 4th Attack on Druzhkivka
According to TSN.ua: On February 4, Russian forces launched an attack on the city of Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region, employing cluster munitions and aerial bombs. The assault resulted in the deaths of at least seven people and left eight others wounded, provoking outrage among local residents and officials. This attack is part of a broader pattern of strikes on civilian infrastructure in eastern Ukraine.
The strike caused significant damage to:
- an industrial zone;
- three multi-story residential buildings;
- three private homes.
Emergency services and medical personnel are on the scene providing aid to the victims. Regional authorities have urged residents to evacuate from high-risk areas.
“This is yet another deliberate war crime and proof that all Russian statements about a 'ceasefire' are worthless.”
Vadym Filashkin, a representative of local authorities
This incident follows a prior attack on February 2nd, when a market in Kharkiv was struck, injuring two people.
Escalation of the Conflict in Ukraine
The bombardment of Druzhkivka is part of the ongoing escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, which began in 2014. The use of cluster munitions and aerial bombs raises serious concerns about the humanitarian situation in the region, as such actions frequently lead to high civilian casualties. This underscores the urgent need for the international community to take measures to ensure the safety and protect the rights of local civilians.
