Russian Missile Strike on Kharkiv Leaves 40% of Subscribers Without Power.
Missile Attack Targets Kharkiv
According to TSN.ua: A Russian military missile strike hit a key energy facility in Kharkiv, resulting in widespread power outages. Approximately 80% of the city and surrounding region initially lost electricity due to severe damage to the energy infrastructure. Restoration efforts are ongoing, but 40% of subscribers remain without power. This attack is part of a wider pattern of strikes on Ukraine's civilian energy grid, which have intensified during winter months.
The assault involved three direct missile hits on the energy facility. While power has been restored to half of the affected subscribers, the situation remains critical. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated that
"the power situation in the city is very difficult"and added that
"we have blackout schedules, very substantial blackout schedules".
Impact on Energy Infrastructure
Forces carried out a combined attack on Kharkiv on January 27, causing significant damage to the energy infrastructure. Work to restore the energy systems continues, with utility services doing everything possible to stabilize the situation.
This missile strike underscores the ongoing armed conflict and its impact on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. Maintaining electricity supply is critically important for residents' daily lives, making the restoration of energy infrastructure under wartime conditions a priority for local authorities. Such attacks can have long-term consequences for the region's economy and social stability.
