Russian Drones Strike Ukraine: Attacks Hit Konotop and Khmelnytskyi Region.
Ongoing Russian Assaults on Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Russia continues its military campaign against Ukraine, with strikes reported in Konotop, located in Sumy Oblast, and the Khmelnytskyi region. On March 29, 2023, an attack on Konotop damaged civilian infrastructure and residential areas. Simultaneously, overnight, Russian forces targeted Khmelnytskyi Oblast, where Ukrainian air defense units successfully intercepted and shot down hostile unmanned aerial vehicles.
The assault on Khmelnytskyi caused power outages across the area. Enemy drone activity was detected in multiple regions. Specifically, several groups of UAVs were tracked moving through:
- southern Cherkasy Oblast, heading west or southwest;
- both southern and northern parts of Zhytomyr Oblast;
- Kyiv Oblast and other regions.
These developments highlight an escalation in the conflict and the persistence of aggressive Russian operations.
Frontline Situation
The situation on the front lines remains tense as Russian forces continue their strikes across Ukrainian territory. These actions not only cause extensive damage to civilian infrastructure but also pose serious challenges to the country's energy security. The surge in drone activity suggests the potential for further attacks, which could lead to additional casualties among civilians and further destruction of critical infrastructure.
