Russian Drone Strikes Odessa Apartment Block, Prompting Evacuation of 58.
Attack on Odessa District
According to TSN.ua: In the early hours of January 22, Russian forces launched an attack on the Odessa district using strike drones. One of these unmanned aerial vehicles struck a multi-story residential building, impacting between the 18th and 19th floors, but it failed to detonate.
The attack caused damage to the building's facade, windows, and several parked cars. As a safety precaution, 58 people, including eight children, were evacuated from the area. There were no immediate reports of casualties resulting from the incident. This strike follows another drone attack by Russia on the southern Odesa region during the night of January 21.
The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, confirmed the details of the attack.
Consequences and Ongoing Threat
This assault on the Odessa district is part of Russia's broader campaign of using drones to target civilian infrastructure across Ukraine. While no injuries were reported this time, such incidents underscore the persistent danger facing Ukrainian cities and the critical need for protective measures for the population.
Odessa, a crucial Black Sea port city, has been a frequent target since the full-scale invasion began. The situation in southern Ukraine remains highly volatile, and further developments are expected.
