Current developments in the conflict with Iran

According to TSN.ua: Reza Pahlavi, son of the overthrown Shah of Iran, has sharply criticized the peace talks sought by US President Donald Trump with the Iranian leadership. He is convinced that such negotiations would only postpone the threat to the US, but not resolve it. Pahlavi expressed this in clear terms:

'What remains of this regime can only be associated with gained time, deception, and fraud.' Reza Pahlavi

Trump, who is pushing for a diplomatic solution to the conflict, had previously announced a temporary ceasefire. On March 23, he declared that the US would refrain from attacks on Iranian energy facilities for five days. This announcement followed an initial ten-day pause. The military situation remains tense, as thousands of US soldiers are being deployed to the region.

According to Trump, Tehran has agreed to allow about a dozen oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. He reported:

'They said: To show that we mean business and are reliable – we are letting eight ships with oil through.' Donald Trump

These steps illustrate the struggle of both sides for an exit from the crisis. While Trump bets on a relaxation, doubts about the seriousness of the Iranian regime remain.

The situation in the Middle East continues to be highly fragile. Pahlavi's skepticism towards the talks reflects the fear that Tehran is using the negotiations only as a tactical means. At the same time, Trump's decision to suspend attacks demonstrates an attempt to de-escalate the conflict. Whether this succeeds largely depends on the further behavior of both parties. The coming days will show whether the agreed steps will actually be implemented and whether they can bring about a sustainable calming of the situation.
