Kutia for Christmas 2025 will cost over 200 Hryvnias: what caused its price increase.
According to ТСН: Wheat kutia weighing 950 g, prepared according to an ancient recipe, will cost Ukrainians 213.37 UAH in 2025. This will make it one of the most expensive dishes on the festive table.
This information was provided by researchers from the Institute of Agricultural Economics.
Ingredient costs
The most expensive components of this year's kutia are:
- poppy seeds – 72.50 UAH for 200 g;
- walnuts – 68.80 UAH;
- raisins – 24.99 UAH for 100 g.
The main ingredient – wheat groats made from hard wheat – costs 26.90 UAH for 400 g. Honey will be 18.70 UAH for 100 g, while sugar (50 g) will cost 1.48 UAH.
Product availability
Although preparing this festive treat may not be budget-friendly, the vast majority of ingredients remain available. This allows Ukrainians to adhere to traditions and prepare kutia for the Holy Evening.

Thus, by preserving customs, Ukrainians can enjoy not only a delicious but also a symbolic dish during the festive days.
