Over 850 Tomahawk Missiles Launched by the US in First Month of Iran War.
Tomahawk Missile Deployment in the Iran Conflict
According to TSN.ua: In the span of just four weeks during the war in Iran, the United States fired more than 850 Tomahawk cruise missiles—a rate of use that has raised serious concerns about dwindling weapons stockpiles. The heavy reliance on these munitions has sparked debate over whether the military can sustain such a high operational tempo going forward.
Each Tomahawk missile can travel over 1,609 kilometers, making it a highly effective platform for long-range strikes. The latest variants, which entered service in 2004, cost up to $3.6 million per unit. Yet the most recent US defense budget allocated funding for only 57 new Tomahawk missiles, casting doubt on the military's ability to continue operations at this scale.
Experts Sound the Alarm
The vast majority of the more than 850 Tomahawks launched were used in the opening phase of Operation Epic Fury. A single destroyer can carry dozens of these missiles, each measuring 6 meters in length and weighing roughly 1.6 tons, giving the US Navy significant firepower. Given the volume of launches, analysts worry that reserves could be exhausted quickly, potentially reshaping strategy in future engagements.
This situation highlights how American military planners must reassess their approach to weapons supply and replenishment to avoid crippling shortages in future conflicts.
As global threats continue to grow, the effectiveness of US military operations could be compromised if Tomahawk inventories are not replenished in time, ultimately affecting the nation's overall combat readiness.
