Ukraine is hit by a stormy wind: four regions on the brink of an emergency.
According to ТСН: Forecasters warn of significant deterioration in weather conditions in the western regions of Ukraine. From the evening of January 1 and throughout January 2, strong wind intensification is expected, which may lead to disruptions in infrastructure.
Bad weather will cover four regions. The greatest complications are forecasted in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, as well as in the mountainous areas of Zakarpattia and Chernivtsi regions.
Wind forecast
According to meteorological data, the average wind gust speed will be 15–20 m/s. However, at night and in the morning of January 2, in some areas, gusts may reach 25 m/s.
In connection with these weather conditions, a level I danger (yellow) has been announced.
Rescue services' recommendations
Rescue workers warn that strong wind gusts can damage power lines and lead to interruptions in power supply. There may be difficulties in the operation of communal services and construction sites, and there is also a risk of falling trees and unstable structures.
Emergency services urge residents of the region not to leave vehicles under high trees and advertising boards, and in case of emergencies, to call 101.
Changes in weather
The forecaster also noted that the weather in Ukraine will undergo changes in the coming days. Vitaliy Postryhany reported that from January 3 to 5, the country will be under the influence of a warm and humid cyclonic system, the center of which will be located over the Baltic states.
The weather situation in the western regions of Ukraine requires special attention. Complicated weather conditions may lead to dangerous situations, so it is important to follow the recommendations of rescue services. After January 5, due to the influence of the cyclonic system, warming is expected in the country, which may improve the overall situation.
