Web Models Sentenced in Ternopil Court

According to TSN.ua: Three women working as web models in Ternopil have received suspended prison sentences for distributing pornographic material. Their terms range from one to 1.6 years, and they are now required to provide testimony against the studio organizers. In the fall of 2024, the defendants conspired with the operators of a studio engaged in illegal activities.

The convicted individuals include:

  • A student at Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, originally from Berdiansk, who is raising two young children,
  • A resident of Ternopil, also unmarried and mother to two young children.

The charges involved distributing pornographic content and displaying genitalia. During their work, the women earned between 900 and 2,500 hryvnias per session in private chats.

In addition to their prison terms, the women are banned from using information and telecommunications systems for two years. Two of them were sentenced to one year, while the third received a 1.6-year sentence. The case has stirred significant public debate and highlighted ongoing issues surrounding web modeling activities in Ukraine.

Broader Social Implications of the Case

This situation reflects a growing crackdown by law enforcement on illegal activities in the intimate services sector in Ukraine. The web models' case may serve as a warning to others in the industry that legal violations carry consequences. At the same time, it raises important questions about social support for women who find themselves in such circumstances, as many may be driven to seek additional income due to financial hardship.
