Trump Set to Declare End of Active Combat in Iran – What Comes Next.
Military Operation in Iran Winds Down
According to TSN.ua: U.S. President Donald Trump will announce the conclusion of the active phase of the military operation in Iran, which has now lasted 32 days. During a speech scheduled for 2026 in the Oval Office, he intends to highlight the successful completion of military objectives while also directing criticism at NATO allies.
Throughout the operation, Trump has accused European nations of failing to support U.S. efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that
“the Strait of Hormuz must be open, free, and clean”– according to Trump. In response, the president has threatened Iran with a ground operation by April 6 if the situation regarding the strait remains unresolved. As part of the operation, 2,500 U.S. Marines have been deployed to the region.
Strained Relations with Allies
Trump also noted that allied actions have fallen short of expectations, remarking that
“this is not how an ally behaves”– a statement reflecting growing tensions between the United States and European nations. He emphasized that, if necessary, the U.S. could take more decisive measures. According to a source close to the administration, Trump's stance is described as 'less radical and far more sensible.'
This development could mark a turning point in U.S.-European relations, particularly regarding global security and economic stability. Trump’s criticism may further strain NATO dynamics and affect the alliance’s joint foreign policy. At the same time, the continued U.S. military presence in the region underscores the strategic importance of controlling key maritime routes like the Strait of Hormuz, which is vital to global energy security.
