Trump Confirms U.S.-Iran Talks: 15-Point Deal on the Table, Strait Ultimatum Issued.
U.S.-Iran Negotiations Underway
According to TSN.ua: President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States and Iran are engaged in direct negotiations aimed at ending hostilities, revealing that several key areas of agreement have already emerged. His statement came on March 23, following talks held on Sunday between the two sides. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner participated in these discussions.
Key Terms of the Proposed Agreement
The negotiations are centered on a 15-point framework, which includes a demand for Iran to abandon its nuclear program. Trump noted that
“They really want to make a deal”, underscoring Tehran’s apparent eagerness to reach a compromise. He also asserted that
“They will never have nuclear weapons”, reaffirming Washington’s firm stance against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Additionally, the U.S. president threatened to destroy Iranian power plants if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. The construction cost of these facilities exceeds $10 billion, making the threat a significant economic blow to Iran. Trump further stated that
“The strait will be jointly controlled, possibly by me and the ayatollah”, hinting at U.S. efforts to gain oversight over this critical maritime chokepoint.
Israel’s position also plays a key role in the talks. Trump remarked,
“I think Israel will be very happy with what we have”, suggesting that the Jewish state supports American efforts to curb the Iranian threat.
These negotiations could mark a pivotal moment in resolving the broader conflict, with outcomes that will shape not only Middle Eastern security but also global stability—given that Iran’s nuclear program remains a major concern for many nations. The results may also redefine U.S. relations with both allies and rivals in the region.
