110 mobile boiler houses for Ukraine: how communities provide heat during the war.
According to ТСН: In Ukraine, winter has long become something more than just another season of the year. After constant attacks on the energy infrastructure, many communities live in fear that the heat will disappear again. That's why The Coca-Cola System, along with the Ukrainian Red Cross, continues to implement a project to provide major social facilities with mobile boiler houses, which has been ongoing for the third year.
During this time, 110 mobile boiler houses have been transferred to communities in various regions of the country. In 2025, five of them were installed for a kindergarten, two schools and two medical facilities with a total capacity of nearly 61 MW, providing heating for about 610 thousand square meters of premises.
Four mobile boiler houses for Konotop
"For Konotop, four new block-module boiler houses have become a real find", says Taras Omelchenko, Executive Director of KP Teploharant. This equipment provides heat to two educational institutions and residential buildings where about a thousand people live.
The mobile boiler houses in Konotop have been operating for their second heating season. The heat network operator has hardly spent any money on repairs, and gas savings amounted to no less than 20%.
"Compared to the old equipment, the efficiency coefficient here is completely different. There are practically no complaints from users. Both the enterprise and the community are very satisfied", added Omelchenko.
Flexibility and adaptability — the key to resilience
KP Teploharant and the city authorities provided the boilers with all the necessary conditions for effective connection to existing communications. Thanks to generators, these boilers can operate even without centralized power supply.
The mobile design allows for quick transportation and installation of the boilers in new locations. Moreover, they are ready to run on diesel fuel, which enables them to be used as heating points if necessary. Such plans already exist.
"We are 80 km from the border. We must be prepared for anything", explained the official.
To achieve maximum resilience and adaptability of the heating supply system, Konotop utility workers maintain even outdated boilers that should have long been decommissioned. This flexibility reflects the strategy of the charitable project, as its main goal is to enhance the energy resilience of Ukrainian communities.
"This is a systematic effort that has been ongoing for three years now. Coca-Cola invests resources into the project because we see its real impact on people's lives. We continue to collaborate with the Ukrainian Red Cross to support those who need it most", emphasizes the Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Coca-Cola HBC Ukraine.
40 million dollars — to support Ukrainians
Since February 2022, The Coca-Cola System, along with the Coca-Cola Foundation, has directed about 40 million dollars to assist Ukrainians, humanitarian projects, and infrastructure restoration. Among these funds, 9 million dollars were spent on the purchase and delivery of mobile boiler houses. It is important to note that the boilers were purchased from a domestic manufacturer, which supported the Ukrainian economy and simplified logistics and servicing.
Over the past three years, mobile boiler houses have provided stable and cost-effective heating to 46 educational institutions, 33 medical facilities, 29 residential buildings, and two critical infrastructure facilities.
"Ukraine is once again going through the heating season under extremely challenging conditions. For many communities, mobile boiler houses are a guarantee that hospitals, schools, and residential buildings will have heat even under unstable energy system operations. Support from The Coca-Cola System allows for heating tens of thousands of Ukrainians and helps communities return to normal life", emphasized the General Director of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Thus, the project implemented in cooperation between Coca-Cola and the Ukrainian Red Cross plays an important role in supporting energy stability in Ukraine during the war. Its large-scale implementation not only improves living conditions in communities but also reaffirms the importance of collaboration between business and social initiatives in times of crisis.
