Kremlin Spells Out Condition for Ending the War: Ushakov's Statement.
Yuri Ushakov Weighs In on the Conflict in Donbas
According to TSN.ua: Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, has outlined what Moscow sees as a potential path toward de-escalation. Speaking to Russian media, Ushakov suggested that if Ukraine decided to pull its troops out of the Donbas region, it could pave the way for renewed dialogue and help resolve several outstanding issues tied to the ongoing hostilities.
'If Zelenskyy actually made the decision to withdraw forces from Donbas, it would open up prospects for settling many matters and allow for consideration of a ceasefire,' Ushakov emphasized.
He also noted that 'no agreement texts or concrete plans for a conflict resolution with Russia have been approved by anyone.'
International Dimensions and Potential Shifts
In earlier remarks, Ushakov described certain U.S. proposals regarding Ukraine as 'interesting' and commented on a recent meeting between American and Ukrainian officials in Florida. These statements highlight the role of international actors in the peace process and signal the possibility of fresh negotiations.
Ushakov's comments indicate that Russia is open to engaging in talks with Ukraine, provided Kyiv alters its military strategy. This could mark a turning point in bilateral relations if Ukraine chooses to take such a step. At the same time, his remark about the lack of finalized agreements underscores the complexity of the situation and the need for careful handling of any future negotiations.
