Germany to create a fund against loneliness: 500 million euros for libraries and communication.
According to ТСН: Municipalities in Germany have initiated the creation of a federal 'Fund Against Loneliness' amounting to at least 500 million euros. This call was proclaimed by the Union of German Cities and Communities. According to its leader, Andre Berghegger, this issue has reached a scale that requires financing for its resolution.
'The fight against loneliness should not fail due to lack of funds. Volunteering can offer much, but it cannot fill all the gaps,' Berghegger stated in an interview.
The union proposes to finance the fund using European Union funds, unspent budget surpluses, and the redistribution of expenditures. This money is planned to be directed towards organizing simple forms of communication, such as libraries and other local spaces accessible to people of all ages.
The importance of live communication
Vice President of the Bundestag Bodo Ramelow also expressed the need for the development of places for live communication.
'The digital world deceives: bright pictures do not fill the internal emptiness and loneliness,' he noted.
This initiative reflects growing concern about loneliness, which has become a serious problem in modern society. Achieving not only financial but also social regulation of this issue is an important step towards improving the quality of life for many people. The establishment of the fund may become a cornerstone in the fight for a more cohesive and supportive society.
