Bribes of Up to $10,000 Demanded by Military Recruitment Offices: Prosecutor's Statement to Parliament.
Allegations of Corruption in Military Mobilization
According to TSN.ua: During a session of a temporary investigative commission in Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada, a prosecutor from Kyiv's Special Military Prosecutor's Office revealed that officials from Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRCs) are demanding bribes from individuals seeking to evade conscription. The amounts reportedly range from $4,000 to $10,000.
Lawmaker's Response
People's Deputy Heorhiy Mazurashu commented on the matter during a broadcast, stating that bribes typically start at $5,000 for those approached on the street, while TRC officials ask for $10,000 or more. He added:
“Not everyone can even come up with five thousand. Though I've heard stories, for instance in Lviv and elsewhere, about people selling apartments and the like.”

The Ground Forces have not yet responded to the lawmaker's accusations. These claims raise serious concerns about the ethics and legality of actions by TRC personnel amid Ukraine's ongoing mobilization efforts. The issue underscores the broader challenge of corruption within state institutions during wartime, potentially eroding public trust in the government's ability to manage conscription fairly and effectively. This controversy is likely to fuel further public debate and may prompt investigations by law enforcement agencies.
