Fine for sexual harassment in Ternopil

According to ТСН: A man in Ternopil was fined 1700 hryvnias for sexual harassment of a woman in one of the supermarkets.

This information was provided by the Ternopil City District Court. According to witness testimony, a local resident committed sexual harassment by approaching a woman and pinching her on the buttocks. This caused a situation of intimidation and humiliation, violating her personal dignity.

The woman did not remain indifferent and called the police.

The man was accused of violating the requirements of paragraph 6 of Article 1 of the Law of Ukraine on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men from 08.09.2005, which was the basis for bringing him to administrative responsibility under part 1 of Article 173-7 of the Code of Ukraine on administrative offenses.

The man did not appear at the court hearing, but there was a video recording confirming the facts of harassment.

The judge made a decision on administrative punishment for the offender.

According to the ruling:

  1. The man must pay a fine to the state in the amount of 100 non-taxable minimums, which is 1,700 hryvnias.

  2. Additionally, a court fee of 605.60 hryvnias has been imposed on the offender.

The situation in Ternopil emphasizes the importance of responding to sexual harassment and protecting personal dignity. The call to the police by the woman demonstrates that society is gradually becoming less tolerant of such violations, which may push for changes in attitudes towards these problems in the future.
