From 2026, Ukrainians aged 40 and over will receive free medical examinations and 2000 hryvnias.
According to ТСН: In Ukraine, starting from January 1, 2026, a national program for free comprehensive medical surveys will be introduced for citizens who have reached the age of 40. Each participant will receive 2000 hryvnias in cashless form for a complete health screening.
The Ministry of Health stated that a budget of 10 billion hryvnias has been allocated for the implementation of the preventive examination program.
Citizens using the "Diia" app will receive notifications about the opportunity to participate in the program 30 days after their 40th birthday. After confirming participation, 2000 hryvnias will be automatically credited to a special "Diia.Card". These funds can only be spent on medical services in institutions that are registered with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU), including public, communal, and private clinics.
Those who do not use "Diia" will be able to obtain a physical bank card through Administrative Services Centers (ASC). A notification of the funds credited will arrive approximately a week later.After receiving the funds, the patient can choose any institution from the NHSU list, regardless of their place of residence, and make an appointment. The examination will last 60-90 minutes, and payment for services will be made directly at the institution using the special card.
The examination package includes:
Physical examination: measurement of blood pressure, pulse, weight, height, waist circumference, and calculation of body mass index;
Survey: gathering information about lifestyle and screening for symptoms;
Laboratory tests: mandatory - lipid profile, glycated hemoglobin; if indicated - electrolytes, creatinine, calculated glomerular filtration rate, albumin/creatinine ratio in urine;
Mental health assessment: a short questionnaire to determine levels of anxiety and stress;
Doctor consultation: assessment of general risks, personalized recommendations, and if necessary, referrals to narrow-profile specialists, as well as prescription medications through an electronic recipe.
The program aims to detect early and prevent the development of chronic diseases, the risks of which increase after the age of 40. Special attention will be paid to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, mental health issues, and individuals who typically ignore preventive examinations.
After completing the examination, the doctor will provide individual recommendations, may refer to narrow-profile specialists if risks are detected, and will also prescribe necessary medications, which patients will receive for free or with partial payment.
This initiative will be an important step in improving the health of the population of Ukraine, promoting active monitoring of the health status of older citizens. Thanks to the availability of free medical services, many people will be able to timely detect and prevent serious diseases, which, in turn, will reduce the burden on the healthcare system.
