The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported that thanks to the involvement of new countries, Ukraine managed to return 1001 children from the temporarily occupied territories and Russia.

Lubinets participated in the International Seminar in Brazil on the protection of the rights of children and adolescents in wartime, which is held as part of the implementation of the President of Ukraine's action plan Bring Kids Back UA.

"At the event, they explored how Latin America's experience in the field of justice can help Ukraine in solving the problem of deportation and forced displacement of children. After all, similar precedents have previously occurred on this continent," he said.

Lubinets addressed the seminar participants and highlighted key points:

▪️The first child was illegally taken by the Russians from temporarily occupied Crimea in 2014. The crime of deportation, which is genocide, has been ongoing for 10 years.

▪️Russia has deported and forcibly relocated almost 20 thousand Ukrainian children. The real number is significantly higher. Children are being re-educated, illegally issued Russian-style documents, and placed in Russian families.

▪️Ukraine returns deported children within the framework of point 4 of the President of Ukraine's Peace Formula. However, the initiative Bring Kids Back UA, which unites the efforts of state bodies, international organizations, and civil society, is crucial in returning children.

Lubinets urged participants to join in the search and monitoring of deported and forcibly displaced Ukrainian children, as well as those who are at risk on the territory of Ukraine. Also, to demand sanctions against those involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children. To support rehabilitation programs for children who have experienced the trauma of war and deportation.
