Ukraine Allocates $11.2 Billion for Energy Defense Amid Emergency Blackouts in Four Regions.
Emergency Power Cuts Hit New Areas in Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Fresh emergency electricity outages have been imposed in Ukraine following Russian attacks, specifically affecting the Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions. Due to the fallout from previous large-scale Russian strikes, power restrictions are expected to be in effect for industrial users from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, alongside hourly blackouts for all consumer categories.
Funding for Critical Infrastructure Protection
In response, the Ukrainian government plans to allocate 11.2 billion hryvnias from the state budget’s reserve fund to safeguard critical infrastructure. The funds will be used to protect 210 facilities across ten regions. Authorities are taking steps to ensure stable electricity supply amid escalating threats.
The imposition of new power supply limits underscores the severity of the situation facing Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which has sustained heavy damage from military actions. Investment in protecting vital assets reflects the Ukrainian government’s effort to bolster energy security and mitigate the impact of attacks. This move is also seen as crucial for supporting an economy strained by instability in the energy sector.
