Police dismantles fake rehabilitation centers: among 300 detainees are seven children.
According to ТСН: The law enforcement agencies uncovered a criminal group that, masquerading as a public organization, illegally detained people in fake rehabilitation centers. Among about 300 victims, seven minors were found, who were held without their parents' knowledge.
According to the information from the National Police of Ukraine, a group of four people organized a network of facilities in the cities of Shakhtarsk and Zhovti Vody. Under the guise of 'treatment' for alcohol and drug addiction, the criminals illegally deprived people of their freedom without any licenses or medical permits. The living conditions in such establishments did not meet sanitary standards.
'On December 24, law enforcement conducted seven searches in the premises where illegal centers were actually operating, and at the residences of the suspects. During the investigative actions, mobile phones, computer equipment, bank cards, documents, stamps of the public organization, rough notes, as well as cash in national and foreign currency were seized,' the police reported.
Police established that about 300 people were held in the facilities, of whom 30 had already turned to the police with complaints about illegal deprivation of liberty. Among the detainees were seven teenagers aged 14 to 18 years. The children were transferred under the supervision of medical staff and juvenile police, and the process of returning them to their families is ongoing.
According to the information from the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, four suspects have been charged under part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping). The sanction of this article provides for restriction or deprivation of liberty for up to five years. Pre-trial investigations are ongoing, and the police continue to establish the full list of individuals who suffered from the actions of the 'rehabilitologists'.
This news highlights the seriousness of the criminal actions that may hold not only the members of the criminal group liable but also those who have suffered their influence. Currently, the agenda is the protection of the victims' rights and the swift completion of the investigation to ensure justice for all who have become victims of this legal violation. At the same time, the situation with the attack on military personnel in the Rivne region indicates an escalation of social tension in the country, which requires the attention of the state.
