Ukrainian Railways Introduces Free Travel for Taxpayers.
According to inkorr.com: The Ukrainian Railways has introduced a new social initiative called 'UZ-3000'. Now, taxpayers can travel for free on unsold seats in trains during the low season. This information was confirmed by Serhiy Leshchenko, a member of the supervisory board of the company.
Previously, the costs of passenger transportation were covered by revenues from freight transportation. However, due to the decrease in cargo volumes due to the war, the government has committed to covering the losses in the area of passenger transportation at its own expense.
Leshchenko emphasized that financing passenger transportation from taxes is a practice in Europe that has proven itself. Now it is also in effect in Ukraine, and with 'UZ-3000', passengers will receive free tickets in the low season. In Europe, there are many discount programs that help railways attract customers and reduce CO2 emissions.
This initiative is also a sign of gratitude to citizens and takes their opinion into account. Unsold tickets will be available as part of a social program that operates during periods of low demand when cars have a large number of available seats.
Explanation
Leshchenko also noted that the use of 'premium kilometers' is the right of passengers. The 'UZ-3000' program will not require additional costs and risks, as it is based on unused seats in the low season. It will not be in effect during high demand, such as during holidays and vacations.
The 'UZ-3000' initiative is an important step in supporting Ukrainian citizens in difficult times and will also help the railway preserve passenger flow. We hope that the new program will attract more people to travel by train, reducing the financial burden on passengers and contributing to the industry's recovery.
