Power Outages on March 20: Four Ukrainian Regions Left Without Electricity After Russian Strikes.
Electricity Supply Situation in Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: On March 20, 2023, partial blackouts affected the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions of Ukraine as a result of Russian attacks. In response, hourly power outage schedules were implemented across the entire country.
Starting at 08:00 and lasting until the end of the day, all regions of Ukraine have imposed capacity restrictions on industrial consumers. This measure was deemed essential to optimize electricity usage given limited resources. In the evening, until 22:00, hourly blackouts will also apply to all consumer categories, helping to reduce strain on the power grid.
Emergency Power Cuts
The day prior, on March 19, Ukraine had already enforced restriction schedules and emergency power cuts, reflecting the ongoing stability challenges in the energy sector. Consumers are urged to understand the situation and follow recommendations from energy companies.
Ukraine's energy supply remains under severe pressure due to continuous Russian attacks, which have heavily damaged the country's power infrastructure. The introduction of hourly blackouts is a necessary step to maintain grid stability and minimize the risk of a total collapse. Energy companies continue working to optimize resources in order to supply both households and industry with electricity amid constrained deliveries.
