Pension Recalculation for Working Retirees Begins April 1: Who Qualifies for the Increase.
Updated Pensions for Employed Seniors
According to TSN.ua: Starting April 1, 2026, Ukraine will launch a fresh phase of pension recalculations aimed at retirees who remain in the workforce. This adjustment applies only to individuals who first claimed their pension two or more years ago. While the indexation will occur automatically, some pensioners may need to contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine to ensure they receive the updated payments.
According to official data, over 2.7 million working pensioners already received indexed payments in March 2026. In April 2026, approximately 650,000 additional retirees are expected to see new amounts in their accounts. Notably, the recalculation for those who retired more recently is scheduled for April 2027.
Retirement Eligibility Requirements
As of 2026, the minimum insurance record needed to qualify for an old-age pension is 33 years, with 35 years considered a full record. The experience coefficient is set at 0.01 (1%) for each year of coverage. Age-based supplements include:
- 300 hryvnias for those aged 70;
- 456 hryvnias for those aged 75;
- 570 hryvnias for those aged 80.
It is worth noting that the March 2026 pension indexation already added 917 hryvnias to the average payout. These adjustments are part of broader government efforts to support older adults who continue working, aiming to improve their financial security and standard of living.
This pension recalculation represents a key step in Ukraine's social security system, as it helps boost the financial well-being of working retirees.

The automatic indexation process is designed to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and make social benefits more accessible for seniors. With the growing number of pensioners who remain employed, such initiatives could significantly enhance their material situation and overall quality of life.
