Teachers' salaries will increase by 50% in 2026: when and by how much.
According to ТСН: This year, a salary increase for teachers is planned in Ukraine. The salary growth will occur in two stages, and it is expected that the average salary will reach about 30,000 UAH.
Increase in teachers' salaries
The first stage of the salary increase will start on January 1, and the second on September 1. The Ministry of Education has reported that
starting in January, salaries will increase by 30%for all educational and scientific-pedagogical workers in state and municipal education institutions. The average salary of a teacher will rise from 16,700 UAH to 21,700 UAH.
These changes apply not only to teachers of general secondary education but also to educators of preschool, extracurricular, vocational, and pre-higher education institutions financed from local budgets.
Further salary increases
From September 1, salaries will increase by another 20%, which will allow achieving an average salary of 30,000 UAH.
The Ministry has also prepared four models for increasing teachers' salaries, which are not related to the planned increases in January and September 2026. The models include:
increased workload;
no increase in workload;
proportional increases for different categories of teachers;
disproportional increases focusing on young teachers to stimulate entry into the profession.
Additional payments
From January to August, teachers will also receive special monthly allowances. These payments are intended for 409,000 educators who work in difficult conditions, including 25,500 people — teachers in frontline communities.
The amount of the allowance:
2,000 UAH (2,600 UAH before taxes) for all educational workers;
4,000 UAH (5,200 UAH before taxes) for educators working in frontline territories.
According to the latest news,
salaries in Ukraine will significantly rise throughout 2026.This year, there will also be an increase in the minimum salary, which will be 8,647 UAH per month and 52 UAH per hour for hourly paid work. This will be the first increase in the minimum salary since 2023.
The increase in teachers' salaries is an important step in improving working conditions in the education sector. It is expected that this will positively impact teachers' motivation and attract new staff. With funding from state and local budgets, teachers will be able to work in more comfortable conditions, and their work will be more appreciated.
