According to TSN.ua: Law enforcement has apprehended an organized criminal group that was facilitating the desertion of military personnel and their illegal border crossing. The ring was reportedly led by a 26-year-old resident of Dnipro. The cost for 'extracting' a service member from their unit reached up to $16,000, while smuggling them across the border cost clients as much as $40,000. The ages of the accomplices ranged from 19 to 36. Preliminary information indicates at least five military personnel used the group's services.
Legal Consequences and the Imperative of Lawfulness
All suspects in the case have now been formally notified of the charges against them. They face up to 12 years of imprisonment. This arrest underscores the active efforts of Ukrainian authorities to combat crimes that threaten national security during a time of war.
This case illustrates the severity of the issues surrounding breaches of military discipline and illegal migration under Ukraine's martial law conditions.
