Zelensky on chances for peace: can the Russian economy continue the war

According to ТСН: The dictator of Russia Vladimir Putin has no intention of ending the war. His ability to continue the conflict depends on the actions of our partners, particularly international sanctions and diplomatic pressure.

This was stated by the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, commenting on the statements of American colleagues about Putin's alleged willingness to end the war, both in public and private conversations.

“We support the initiatives of the Americans. We do not agree with all aspects of the future agreements, as you know. We have some differences regarding territorial issues, financing... But I do not think that Putin's economy will be able to sustain the war at the levels it has been before if sanctions continue to be enforced,”

he noted.

Zelensky also added that if Russia influences the diplomatic process, the United States may increase pressure on the Russian side.

Earlier, the president commented on signs of progress in negotiations with the United States regarding security guarantees. Kyiv received a draft document, but details regarding armaments were agreed not to be disclosed until the formalization of the document is completed.

“The guarantees must include a clause similar to Article Five of NATO and also contain a clear understanding of how partners will respond in the event of repeated aggression by Russia. The details regarding armaments have been agreed to not be disclosed publicly until the document is finalized,”

Zelensky summarized.

The ongoing war continues to have serious consequences for Ukraine and the region as a whole. The efforts of the international community, particularly the United States, to support Ukraine and pressure Russia could determine the further evolution of the conflict. In the coming weeks, it is important to monitor the progress of negotiations and possible changes in the strategies of both sides.
