Zelensky Changes Approach to Power: Kuleba Talks About Dialogue and Transformation.
According to ТСН: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, after the resignation of Andriy Yermak from the head of the Office, chose a path of open communication and listening to different opinions, instead of alienation.
This position was expressed by former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in an interview.
Kuleba's Meeting with Zelensky: Results
Kuleba commented on his meeting with the president, noting that they had not communicated for a year and a half.
“We have not communicated for a year and a half. I considered it unfair not towards myself, but towards the interests of the country and two people who have gone through a long journey – both the pandemic and the invasion. For the last year and a half, it seemed to me that it was somehow wrong that we just drifted apart. After all, we can be stronger if there is at least some dialogue. The dialogue has resumed – this is the main result of the meeting you are talking about. I felt a weight lift off my soul,” said Kuleba.
The diplomat also answered questions regarding the possible appointment of him as head of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
“The issue of specific positions was not discussed. I am not the kind of person who is in a greedy search for a position because life has taught me that you can be useful both in a position and without it. So I do not know where all this came from, why it is being spread, and I am not even trying to figure it out,” said the former minister.
Kuleba noted that he and Zelensky agreed on further cooperation within the team of Ukraine.
“The conversation was like this: 'What about you? — And what about you? — How are you? — And how are you?..'. It was a normal human conversation. We agreed that the president will think about how he better sees our interaction within the team of Ukraine. We will see,” added Kuleba.
In his opinion, only the head of state has the right to announce personnel changes in the public space.
Zelensky's Internal Transformations
Kuleba drew attention to the fact that the meeting with Zelensky became possible due to the absence of Yermak, emphasizing that the president seeks to engage people with high recognition.
“I think both options. It is clear that I would not have made it to the president's meeting if Andriy Yermak had remained head of the Office. This is an axiom that does not require proof,” emphasized the diplomat.
In his opinion, Zelensky has decided to go down the path of unity, rather than alienation. This is positive, as the head of state 'wants to communicate with people who have different opinions, who have the opportunity to express them and be heard.'
Kuleba noted that he was satisfied with the situation in the country and the president's vision.
“Even in 2024, when we have already said goodbye, I have not seen such a president. In my opinion, Zelensky is undergoing a process of internal transformation. Because you cannot spend six years in one model of power and then wake up in the morning and become fundamentally different. It is a journey. And I felt that he is going through an internal path of transforming his vision of how to govern Ukraine,” said the diplomat.
Kuleba emphasized that this is important since the stabilization of the front and the achievement of peace depend on internal changes that only Zelensky can initiate.
The meeting also discussed the political and informational challenges facing the country and planned specific steps for further cooperation.
Kuleba clarified that the conversation was of a working nature and did not concern personnel issues, but touched on the internal situation in the country and the international context.
The meeting of Kuleba and Zelensky may indicate a change in vector in the interaction between the president and former partners. Renewing dialogue is critically important in the context of current challenges facing Ukraine. Such cooperation may become the foundation for a stable team capable of responding to the complex challenges that the state faces.
