In Zhytomyr region, a family with 11 children lives in a two-room house: what is happening

According to ТСН: In the village of Sobolivka in the Brusyliv district of the Zhytomyr region, there is a family raising 11 children, 10 of whom are minors. The youngest child is only 3 years old, and the mother is already looking for a boarding school for one of her sons — an 11-year-old teenager, so he can stay there temporarily.

Recently, blogger Artem Sokhatsky filmed this family, showcasing their living conditions. Below the video on social networks, various comments appeared — from offensive to those supporting the large family.

Large family: what the mother of 11 children said

TSN.ua managed to talk to the mother of the family. In response to questions from commentators about the number of children in difficult conditions, Tetiana Holovasyuk replied:

«I will not have abortions. It is a great sin. And you can't leave a child in the maternity ward.»

Tetiana spoke about how she and her husband raise 11 children:

«We are raising 11 children together with my husband. The youngest is 3 years old, and the oldest will be 20 in February.»

Among the children is an 11-year-old boy with a disability, whom Tetiana would like to enroll in a boarding school:

«We would visit him, and take him on weekends. Then I could go to work. He walks but does not speak. He takes strong medications.»

When asked how she manages with a large number of children, Tetiana noted:

«I am used to it. Seven children go to school, among the children there are more boys — 6, and girls — 5.»

Tetiana added that their house lacks space for everyone:

«There are two rooms in the house, one of which is a children's room, there is a corridor, a pantry, and a kitchen. All the children sleep in one room. In the largest one. There are three sofas and one bed. The child with a disability has his bed in the hallway.»

She noted that neither she nor her husband work due to lack of opportunities in the village:

«Every month, I receive 8,300 hryvnias for all the children. A total of 8,300.»

New house for the family: the issue is being considered

The Brusyliv village council reported that the family is registered and receiving humanitarian aid. Victoria Potiichuk, head of the local child protection service, explained:

«This family is registered, there is social support... The family is on the housing register. The issue of allocating them premises where there was a medical and obstetric point was considered. But funds are needed for repairs.»

She also confirmed that Tetiana's husband indeed does not have a job, but the family is farming:

«They cultivate the garden, keep livestock. As for the children, they are fed, clothed, there are no grounds for their removal.»

Artem Sokhatsky characterized the living conditions of the family as

«harsh»
and expressed hope that the community's efforts would help the family obtain a new, more spacious house.

The situation with the family in Sobolivka has drawn the attention of not only local residents but also activists, who are ready to help find solutions to improve their living conditions. The next steps of the community may be crucial for this large family, which needs support and resources to ensure proper conditions for the children. Society must continue to monitor the situation and support initiatives aimed at helping such families.
