Dismissed for arriving too early to work: court ruling.
According to ТСН: Being late for work is often considered a serious reason for dismissal, but it turns out that arriving too early can also lead to problems. A young woman from Alicante learned this the hard way.
She worked in a delivery service and usually arrived at work at 6:45–7:00, although according to her contract, her shift started at 7:30. This meant she began working earlier than her colleagues, which caused dissatisfaction among the management.
She received her first warning about coming too early back in 2023, but continued to ignore the remarks. This year, the management fired her for “serious misconduct,” claiming that early arrival harms the company's work and violates employee duties. The woman appealed the decision in the social court of Alicante, but the court sided with the employer.
Court's ruling
The court noted that the repeated ignoring of warnings negatively affected the trust and loyalty between the employee and the company:
“The employee's behavior violated trust and loyalty, and her persistent early arrival at work is a serious enough reason for termination of employment relations.”
The lesson of this story is that one should arrive at work on time, not too early — even good intentions can lead to unexpected consequences.
This case highlights how important it is to adhere not only to work schedules but also to the rules set by the employer. In a modern work environment, both productivity and compliance with internal norms are important, as this can impact team relationships and company results.
