Ukrainian Forces Destroy Shahed Drone Depot in Donetsk Airport Strike.
Ukrainian Military Strikes Russian Targets
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian defenders targeted a Russian military facility near Donetsk Airport, destroying a warehouse containing strike drones of the Shahed type. The operation was carried out by units of the Rocket Forces and Artillery of the Ground Forces and the aviation of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The use of ATACMS and SCALP missiles in the mission underscores the high level of technical capability of the Ukrainian military. These precision-guided munitions are key Western-supplied systems enabling Ukraine to strike deep behind enemy lines.
Primary Objectives of the Operation
During the attacks, which occurred on March 6 and the night of March 7, a series of strikes were inflicted on the enemy. The main objectives of the operation included:
- Striking a UAV control point in the Dibrova area;
- Hitting a command and observation post in the Kruhlyakivka area;
- Destroying occupiers' firing positions in the Tavilzhanka, Voskresenka, and Novopavlivka areas;
- Striking areas of enemy personnel concentration in Novohryhorivka, Zaliznychne, Torske, and Sopych.
The Ukrainian military's actions were not limited to striking facilities. Special units of the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), together with Defense Forces, halted a Russian advance on the Zaporizhzhia axis. Importantly, Ukrainian forces confirmed damage to two ships of Russia's Black Sea Fleet: the frigates "Admiral Essen" and "Admiral Makarov." A large-scale fire and secondary detonation were also noted at the impact site, indicating serious consequences for Russian military units. These coordinated strikes across land and sea demonstrate Ukraine's capacity for complex, multi-domain operations aimed at degrading Russian logistics and command.
These events highlight an intensification of Ukrainian military activity in the east of the country, particularly in the context of preventing further advances by Russian forces. Successful strikes on strategic objects could significantly impact the combat capability of the occupiers, which, in turn, could alter the balance of forces on the front line. The destruction of Russian ships and critical military resources is a significant signal of Ukraine's readiness to resist aggression and continue the fight for territorial integrity.
