Hourly Power Outage Schedules for Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: Starting February 7, 2023, Ukraine will implement scheduled hourly power outages across all regions. This emergency measure is a direct response to the critical state of the national energy system, which has been severely damaged by massive Russian missile and drone attacks targeting energy infrastructure. These attacks are part of a broader strategy to cripple Ukraine's civilian infrastructure during the winter.

Regional Impact and Specifics

Different regions will face varying levels of restriction. In Mykolaiv Oblast, consumers will have electricity for only 6 hours per day, divided into three short 2-hour periods. Zaporizhzhia Oblast will experience outages lasting 10 to 12 hours, with power supplied in 4-hour intervals. Poltava Oblast will also be heavily affected, with just 4 to 5 hours of power daily, requiring residents to be constantly prepared for brief periods of electricity.

  • Kirovohrad Oblast: Power will be available for 6 hours per day, but in short periods of only 1 hour each.
  • Cherkasy Oblast: Consumers will receive power in short 1.5-hour intervals, totaling up to 6 hours per day.
  • Chernihiv Oblast: Electricity will be available for 5 to 7 hours daily.
  • Zakarpattia Oblast: Power will be cut for 2.5 hours for six out of twelve consumer groups.

Schedules for other regions, including Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast, Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi, and Volyn Oblasts, are currently being finalized. In Volyn Oblast, four consumer groups will face 3.5-hour outages.

Given the volatile situation, Ukrainians must prepare for these new conditions of electricity consumption and for potential changes to the outage schedules.

The implementation of hourly blackouts results not only from military action but also from the sustained technological pressure on the country's energy infrastructure.

With limited resources available, it is crucial for consumers to adapt to this new reality by planning their daily activities around the power supply schedules. These changes are expected to significantly impact daily life, the economy, and the overall well-being of the population.
