Bleach Error in the Bathroom: Why It's Dangerous and How to Remove Mold.
According to ТСН: Many people still believe that bleach is a universal remedy for fighting mold in the bathroom. However, in reality, it only masks the problem, allowing the fungus to return.
Why Bleach is Ineffective
Expert Craig Phillips notes that this popular agent does help remove mold from non-porous surfaces. However, for the grout and sealant used in showers, it is practically ineffective. As the specialist explained, bleach creates an illusion of cleanliness, but mold spores penetrate deeper into the material and re-emerge more actively.
The Best Remedy for Mold
The expert recommends using 3% hydrogen peroxide, which is easy to find in pharmacies or online stores. This remedy is effective against mold and less aggressive on bathroom surfaces. To achieve better results, the problem area should be well-soaked and left with the peroxide acting for 10 minutes. On vertical surfaces, it is advisable to periodically dampen the area or use cotton balls soaked in the solution for more intense action.
The Importance of Prevention
However, there is an important nuance: if mold deeply penetrates the sealant, no chemical agents will help. In this case, the old layer needs to be removed and a new one applied.
To prevent the recurrence of fungus, Phillips advises reducing humidity in the bathroom: after showering, it is advisable to wipe water off the walls with a squeegee, dry them with a towel, and ventilate the space.
Maintaining cleanliness in the bathroom can be a real challenge, especially in conditions of high humidity. Using the right agents and preventive measures will help keep your space clean and mold-free. According to experts, a careful approach to this issue will help preserve the nature of the bathroom and prevent the recurrence of fungus.
